A moment for poetry

On a journey like this you can only bring so much I have one book other than my notebook. A book my beautiful sister gave me on day 2 after breaking out of the huge Toronto GTA sprawl.

It’s a book of poems written by my great Aunt Maxine Tynes called “Save The World For Me”

I would definitely describe myself more of a writer than a poet as I’ve never really dabbled until recently. Near the end of the book Maxine talks about the joy and fulfillment one feels putting pen to paper and creating a poem so I decided to give it a try during rest time. This Knight’s princess is also a magnificent poet giving double inspiration.

I named this poem “The Field Where I Slept” I hope you enjoy it.

Pushing pushing pushing then pushing a little more… Pushing pushing pushing…what is it all for? It’s exploring and imploring…it’s never boring… Pushing pushing pushing the body begins to call for rest… Everywhere is somewhere you’ve never been… Over there a church…over the bridge there’s a school… Pushing pushing pushing got a feeling something better is ahead… Pushing pushing pushing bingo! an abandoned farm a gift from the skate gods…a big open field with tall grass unkept…This big open field under the stars and fresh air is where I slept.
