THE WORLD’S FASTEST SKATER…

I don’t have too much pride to accept the odd ride…

Thunder Bay, Thunder Trucks, Thunder Struck…

The day after I did 125km to get to Brandon MB I had felt like I had been struck by lightning… Thankfully Brandon though spread out is still rather small. I did as little puttering around as possible and bagged a lot of rest by the coming dawn. The following morning I awoke with great gratitude, my body and legs were back to nearly 100%. Nothing against Brandon but I found my self once again skating in circles and the skatepark there is glorious yet I can’t really partake and that can be torturous.

One can only drink so many cups of coffee and eat so many slices of pizza. I played some games of chess with the locals to clear my mind and pass the day, afterwards I reminded my self that I have a a nation to cross.

Now the day is transitioning to sunset and it’s time for me to skate into it. I go to the Tim Hortons where I first arrived 2 nights prior in the wee hours. I charge up the phone and cue some Nine Club &The Bunt eps as these podcasts keep me great company while I go on auto pilot for hours.

I notice the shoulders going out of Brandon are not the medium/decent grade on which I had arrived it’s darn near stuck together gravel that means kilometers of walking : (my least favorite) I let out a long sigh as I mentally prepare for at least three days of what I call “stop and go” (skating/walking and resting) I’m walking a dirt road running along the side of The #1 West.

The dirt road comes to an end and turns left merging into The #1West right before I merge my self to the shoulder a large black SUV rides up beside me also about to merge. I think nothing of it and there’s a moment we all have when crossing in front of a vehicle where I’m thinking “is the driver watching me or just waiting for a gap?” I’m already set to just go behind the car and make my way as I don’t have time for games.

Suddenly The window rolls down “you going to Regina?” that’s indeed the exact location I was headed I had already made a deal with my self that if somebody goes out of there way to pick me up and I have a good feeling about that person I will accept. I still have a couple thousand KMs ahead of me and in a split second for the sake of my body I say ”yes”

Jeremy Zach and Steven (excuse if I’ve botched spellings) of Thunderstruck agriculture products thank you so much for the kind gesture and hilarious/interesting banter to pass the road and getting me a little bit ahead of schedule.

Big City-little City, farming business- skateboarding business, black-white, checkers-chess… kindness is kindness. Bless all those in the world who see kindness prevail every single day. I’m going to be hangin’ round Regina for a couple days… off to the Tiki Room and CBC Regina I go…
